Ilya Grishaev was born in Perm in 1984. He currently spends most of his time in St. Petersburg. He received his first degree in design at the Perm Humanitarian-Technological Institute. Later on he studied at the department of icon painting of the Theological School in Perm. After moving to St. Petersburg, he entered the art school of the Pro Arte Foundation which he graduated in 2013.
In his work, Grishaev analyzes the visual language of the reality surrounding him. He creates symbols that serve as plastic “footprints”. Constantly perfecting the form, Grishaev moves to its purification. He gets rid of all kinds of “signs”. He seeks laconicism that opens the possibility of various meanings.
